Lost … and Found

I had my hair cut by Rita (now known as Parma) and not only did she listen to me and understand my plight, she put it right and it looks like it should; it hangs on the left naturally – it can also hang on the right if I choose (which I do not). Every time I’ve touched my hair, it has delighted me to find it hanging nicely on the left, just where I’d left it. Even before the blow-dry was over I felt like a weight had been taken off my shoulders and I felt light and relaxed. ‘Parma,’ I said, ‘you have balanced me.’

Yesterday I picked my MBT walking sandals from the mender – I have had them repaired about five times and this was to be the last time; they’ve been re-soled twice and had various clips replaced and other structural repairs. Since I took them in, I have bought some new trainers and I do have a pair of MBTs that my dad sent from the States, which are half a size too small (even though I told him quite clearly what size to get – I mean, if you’re going to go to the trouble of buying them and sending them, surely you may as well get the right size!?). I have persevered with them and although they don’t give me blisters any more, I do feel a little unbalanced and it could be dangerous with the soggy autumn leaves under-foot. I was delighted to get back my old faithfuls, which I had left at the mender for 12 long weeks (bet he was glad to see the back of them). I popped them on and immediately felt at home.

Lastly and by no means leastly, a miracle occurred; my sunglasses were not lost! Honey found them in the front room, on an amp and behind a guitar, where I had left them. I vaguely recall putting something there but I have no idea why, nor do I recall going into that room between the time I got home from Hampstead and realising they were ‘lost’. I popped them on my face. I am complete.
